Our Musculoskeletal First Contact Practitioners (FCPs) are skilled professionals, equipped to assess and manage individuals aged 16 and above with musculoskeletal concerns. This includes a wide range of issues such as soft tissue injuries, arthritis, and spinal discomfort.
You don’t need a referral from your GP to access our services. Just reach out directly to your GP surgery reception team to book an appointment with one of our FCPs. They’ll conduct a thorough assessment, order necessary tests, and diagnose your condition, providing tailored self-management advice.
If further treatment is required, they can refer you to community physiotherapy services or secondary care. Some are also authorised to prescribe medications or administer steroid injections as needed.
Our FCP services are now available across all surgeries in the PCN on alternating days. Please contact your surgery for more information on available appointments.
It’s important to note that while our FCPs offer comprehensive care, there are certain cases where our services may not be suitable. These include acute illnesses, children under 16, specific rheumatological conditions, and more. If you require physiotherapy or rehabilitation directly, you can refer yourself through the MSK Dorset website.
