Diabetes Education Patient Event

Do you have diabetes or prediabetes?

Mid Dorset Primary Care Network, together with our GP practices, is inviting local patients to join us for a Diabetes Education Patient Event.

This is an opportunity to meet local clinicians and other organisations and find out more about the help, advice and support available within your local community and across the wider Dorset area.

⏰ 9am–12pm
📍 The Dorford Centre, 2 Bridport Road, Dorchester, DT1 1RB

The event is open to people living with Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes or prediabetes.

What to expect

There will be a range of local services and information available, including:

• 🥗 Dietary advice and information
• 🩺 Blood pressure checks
• 👩‍⚕️ Meet your local clinicians
• 🤝 Information about local services and support available across Dorset

Come along, ask questions and discover what support is available to help you manage your health and wellbeing.

No matter where you are on your diabetes journey, everyone is welcome.

In the small lounge at the back of the main hall, there will be presentations that you can go along and listen to.

Simone Saito-Greenfield is the Training and Engagement Officer for LiveWell Dorset who is part of the local Public Health team and provides FREE healthy lifestyle support to adults living in Dorset.

From managing weight and becoming more active to stopping smoking and reducing alcohol intake, LiveWell Dorset helps people take practical steps towards prevention as well as management of chronic conditions like Diabetes.

Join us to find out what and how people can access various resources, products and tailored advice as well as 6 sessions with one of our qualified behaviour change coaches to make those positive lifestyle changes sustainable in the long term.

The referral process is very simple - people can self-refer or be referred by professionals by completing a registration form on our website www.livewelldorset.co.uk or over the phone 0800 840 1628.       

Amy Shearing is a Diabetes Dietitian ast Dorset County Hospital. She will be on hand to offer advice and support. This presentation will offer practical advice for eating at Christmas with Diabetes. She will also be able to offer support and advice on more general diet and nutrition queries.

Ninja Lindboe-Larsen works with Dorset Healthcare and will be able to help with those Footcare queries and advise on the importance of looking after your feet as a Diabetic.
